Scholarships. CFA and CIPM

Granting scholarship in the form of discount on paying the registration fee  for taking any of 3 levels of the CFA (см. Chartered Financial Analyst), also   on taking any of 2 levels of the CIPM (см. Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement) is one of advantages  of the patrner-program of the CFA Institute. 

Scholarship competition announces 2 times a year, information publishes in the "Events" on the website of Banking Institute.

Who approves the number of scholarships?

Every year, the CFA Institute approves the number of scholarships based on its calculation methodology and informs its partners about it.

Who can apply for a scholarship?

At the HSE, these scholarships can be awarded:

  • students of the master's program “Financial Analyst”;
  • students of the MBA program of the HSE Banking Institute;
  • students of other undergraduate, graduate, MBA, HSE programs (these applications consider as a second priority, if there are scholarships)
Who selects candidates?

The Contest Committee includes leading experts in the field of financial and investment analysis, corporate finance, including those working in the departments of HSE, as well as the coordinator of the CFA Program Partnership Initiative.

The competition committee is headed by the director of the Banking Institute of the Higher School of Economics.

The work of the commission is organized by the HSE Banking Institute on the basis of the Competition Regulation.

What are the criteria for selection?

The selection is carried out according to the following criteria:

  • Fluent english;
  • High performance in financial and economic disciplines (we also consider cumulative rating and average score);
  • Publications, participation in conferences, winning in the CFA institute’s competitions and scientific works;
  • Participation in public life of affiliate programs (Master's program “Financial Analyst” and MBA program of the Banking Institute);
  • Recommendations of a faculty of the Higher School of Economics on the candidate's research work;
  • The well-reasoned motivation letter which include career plans which relates with the values ​​of the CFA Institute;
  • Priority is given to applicants who apply for June CFA Exam Level 2 and June CFA Exam Level 3;

Priority is given to candidates who apply for CFA Exam Level 1 for the first time.

Are there any features of participation in the competition?

Yes, there are some of them:

  • A scholarship granted to one student cannot be transferred to another;
  • Scholarship can be used only during the exam period (December CFA Exam or June CFA Exam);
  • Participating in a scholarship competition, students should not simultaneously or in advance register for the exam. Registration for an exam automatically blocks access to applying for a scholarship;
  • Students who are not approved for a scholarship will be able to pay an exam at a cost for early enrollment, regardless of the time they apply for the scholarship.
